Place your bets… The 2018 Oscar nominations have been released. Guillermo Del Toro’s fantasy romance The Shape of Water has garnered the most nominations at 13. With The Shape of Water coming off a Golden Globe win for Best Picture and Del Toro winning the Globe for best director (which we have recapped here.). We have to believe this is the front runner for best picture and in turn the moment Del Toro gets handed the keys to something. Universal would be wise to be the first to greet him off stage with a blank check and Lawrence Talbots cane. We here at CultSig! couldn't be happier. Del Toro has long been underrated, notorious for having projects pulled out from under him. He deserves this moment of recognition.
Is this the year Roger Deakins finally gets the rose? Blade Runner 2049 was simply gorgeous. Deakins has now been nominated for an astounding fourteenth time.

I vividly remember staying up too late on Sunday nights, gazing into Hollywood. I learned that these people are the music makers, they are the dreamers of dreams.
